The LBs, the defensive front and the offensive line (RT) are the weak links. The defense has shown some signs of coming together over the past two games. There are a lot of young players on the defense with under 1,000 NFL snaps.
I really don't, but there are always at least one or two.
Here's some Antone Smith from last night:
“I’m very happy. They blocked great down the field and I just happen to sprint on through there and broke a couple of tackles and got a touchdown.
“I definitely had to set them up, but we practice that all the time. I had to run off their blocks and after that I had to break that one tackle. They weren’t going to catch me. I refuse to be caught.
I didn’t really sense that at all. Every year there is going to be another guy. They are going to bring some body in to compete. That’s just a part of the business and I respect the business. I just look forward to compete every day no matter what the situation is.
THREE IN 18 DAYS: "We are ready. As far as preparation and game planning, we’re going to get ready for the Saints."
Yes, I think that's crazy. Reddy and Boldewijn didn't do much once the pads went on. Harry is a proven player. The best developmental prospect in Martino. I think you're still mad a Harry for tripping on his way to the end zone.
MACK: Is it crazy for us Falcon fans to question Harry Douglas roster spot? I am more excited about Reedy and Boldewijn and would hate to see them on another team if they are placed on the practice squad? We know what HD can do and not sure what is it that he adds to the team that the staff feels that he don't even have to compete for a spot. Please educate me; am I missing something, contract issue, leadership, or the fear of injury to Julio and White? I don't get it. Maybe I'm still sour on the NFC Championship game.
Hello everyone. Let's get this thing started!
Todd O - This is a major test for the O.line.
Thanks for stopping by!!!! See ya'll next week 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Also, look for the Cover 9@9 blog at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
Not yet. I didn't want eat it all Week. But have been saving tonight for a good BBQ dinner.
Yes, their offense is a pop-gun operation. I had to focus on the Falcons Oline. I've discussed the Houston offense with John McClain and Brian Smith. Chuck Barkley would call them "Turrrible." Most Houston fans believe they cut the wrong quarterback and should have kept T.J. Yates.
Yeah, I know. He has the unit looking tight and cohesive. I've been impressed with his work and demeanor. Admittedly, I like Maryland guys since my little cousin (Duane Dunham) played for the Terps and Boomer was always good to me back in my Bengals days. You have to give him kind of pass on those Chicago lines. They were just a bunch of "guys" and coach Martz was trying to do deep pass drops with a line that couldn't block. Wasn't really his fault. He had some good groups in Minnesota.
Todd O -- He has a HUGE upside!!!! If Cox can get him going, he could turn into a MAJOR FORCE! The key will be to bring him along slowly.
JTee -- That's why I gave them a C in the draft. Hageman and Southward were guys they made big projections on. He has been hot and cold. He has to follow Tyson Jackson's lead and become a professional.
I'm with you Tommy. You can't teach toughness. You're either a badass or you're not. Joe Hawley is a badass!!! (I hope I can use badass on the chat!)
You left out Roddy White!
No. Just pointed out that Tampa Bay team won a Super Bowl and his first two picks are now in Canton. Everyone knows that was a triumvirate of McKay-Angelo-Ruskell.
Corey Peters if he's not ready to go.
He's only played a few snaps. Can he hold up over the long haul? There an issue as to why this is his fourth team, but he's a good guy and it appears he's working hard and studying in order to make the most of this opportunity.
