They are a passing team that's broken down right now. Have to get healthy and find some blocking. Defensively, they are trying to play fast and create turnovers.
I would keep Baker at LT and cross train the rookie. Let him get comfortable and move him to left in Year 2.
COVINGTONIAN -- Why use the no back sets when the offensive line cannot give the QB enough time to set up? Matt was hurried or sacked when there was no backs in the backfield to provide pass blocking for our leaky line. The running back Antoine Smith should have been given more opportunities. The coaches lost last nights game
LEDBETTER – They are clearly trying to throw quick passes with those formations. Smith should play. Didn’t see the coaches out there trying to tackle Jimmy Graham, Drew Brees or Pierre Thomas. Were the coaches’ pass blocking?
Flatsdawg1 -- The DTs are all FA -- Jerry, Babineaux and Peters.
There might not be one. Roddy is getting up there in WR years.
Belichick said that's on execution, not the coaches. They make adjustments all game long. Not just at halftime. That's on the players.
Big Dawg -- I concur with you.
He hit BIG on the QB and the big time WR. Both Safeties have gone to the Pro Bowl. The CBs look stout. You want to throw the baby out with the bath water. When you make the mistakes, you move on and fix them. There's a reason why it's called the DRAFT LOTTERY. You're going to win some and you're going to lose some.
It was not a trade. The Falcons keep saying it was a business decision. Abraham said that's what they told him.
Yes. Must win the line of scrimmage to do anything.
I don't know if he's the target. Who's ever has been signing off on the line prospects will likely get called into Arthur Blank's office.
No sir!!!! That's what all the cutting was about last year. Draft, development and moderately price free agents is their formula.
No, he's got a lot of them right. He's way over 30 percent. He's just whiffed on the lines . . . so far.
DANNY -- Are the Falcons issues a result of bad personnel in key positions or coaching breakdowns (bad play calling and schemes)?
LEDBETTER – Youth, injuries and bad personnel. Coaching and schemes are fine. Youth -- you don't flip 36 percent of your roster and think everything is going to be the same. There are going to be some growing pains. And in the injuries and a poor line = 2-9.
JOHN IN ATLANTA -- Looking forward to the offseason draft, would you select Clowney or Matthews for the Falcons (assuming still available)? Or would you take someone else?
LEDBETTER – I would take Matthews. Clowney takes plays off. That scares me.
They thought they were smarter than everybody else and could scheme around the deficiencies apparently.
I don't think the OC is going anywhere. He's a Coryell guy.Master of the Boise State attack. Nothing wrong with the plays that a blocking line couldn't fix. They're out there working miracles each week trying to function behind that blocking.
Ledbetter -- No, last year that CBs was No. 1 priority. 2011, they went OL with Konz and Holmes. Both has struggled.
Could be a serious, but correctable issue.
Baker. Contract is too back. Stuck with him. He's fine when healthy.
