CARTER: Julio Jones is a huge loss for us, but we did go 13-3 with him before so I think the offense will recover. Is there any word on Atlanta trying to get some kind of trade in to get another pass rusher?
LEDBETTER: Haven’t heard anything on the trade front. They want to see how their young pass rushers perform. They’ve drafted a bunch of them over the last two years – Massaquoi, Goodman and Maponga. They are not ready to give up on them after a few games.
JOEY: With Julio Jones out for the year and a 1-4 record, the chances of the Falcons even making the playoffs are extremely slim. Why not trade Tony Gonzalez back to the Chiefs, so he at least has a shot at the playoffs and can retire a Chief? Maybe the Falcons can get some good players, or draft picks, in return!
LEDBETTER: The Falcons have two more games before the trading deadline. If they drop to 1-6, maybe they should trade him. If the win them both (Tampa Bay and Arizona), that could signal the turnaround. The Giants won the Super Bowl after finishing 9-7 in 2011.
DUDE: Is it really tampering if John Dorsey never mentioned Tony Gonzalez by name in that interview?
LEDBETTER: I don’t know. I’ve have a question into the league on this matter.
Hello Y'all. Let's get started.
The photo courtesy of Curtis Compton. See y'all next week.
When he's ready to release him.
I don't it. I'm not real high on Josh Freeman.
No, Pat Hill said he still has a real high ceiling. He's basically a rookie.
Hop Head -- I think you're right.
Now, what was the question?
RinnpUaNew -- good points.
MARCUS -"man...I never would have thought WE would have been the annual MNF clunker game.
Are the growing pains of reliance on young OL/DBs (via salary cap casualties), and key injuries too much to overcome this season?"
LEDBETTER – Time will tell.
MATT -- Nothing is wrong with the Falcons, the NFL is a competitive league and game can be decided by 1 or 2 plays. Unfortunately for the Falcons the opponent made the plays and the Falcons did not. I'm confident the Falcons will turn things around and finish on a good note. and don't forget the Falcons losses all were by 1 scores.
LEDBETTER – Good points.
JSSN -- Are they still embargoing information in Flowery Branch panic room?
LEDBETTER – We’re still kicked out of practice, but we can report who’s at the open portion of practice earlier.
LARRY -- Has there been any talk about William Moore playing some linebacker in certain situations because of all the injuries at that position?
LEDBETTER – None whatsoever. He’s a safety.
HOKIEGYRL --Heck Yeah! They're pissin' me off right now, but I bleed red and black!!!
LEDBETTER --- Chill. Hokiegyrl!
STERLING -- Coaching no halftime or in game adjustments.
LEDBETTER – Execution is the counter. Coaches didn’t miss two blocks on walk-in screen play to Julio on first drive last week.
GARNETT EXELBY -- Why are we having such a hard time in the red zone again?
LEDBETTER – blocking.
JOE -- I no what is wrong with tEh the Flacons. It is the GM Tommy Dummytroff. He draft 2 many injruy prone palyers. They just need 2 go a head and loose the rest of the games and draft Jonny Mansell and strat fresh
LEDBETTER – They have a quarterback.
DOUBLE EE "First,I may have been greatly premature with my question to you last week about Tony Gonzalez. I got my answer last Sunday night....his skills are not declining.
Now, personally I am not ready to jump off the bandwagon. I see a little win streak coming up. I think the schedule is favorable for that to happen. This team is also talented enough to go on such a winning streak. I still think a 10 win season is possible.
What are your thoughts D-Led? "
LEDBETTER – No, Tony’s still a beast. Love his spin move at the 11 on that poor linebacker. AWESOME! I think they can win 10. I think most had them going 2-2 to open the season. Folks didn’t see the Miami lost coming.
VIRGIL LEONARD: We're really not playing good football right night. I'm more worried about the defense then the offense. Has coach Nolan said anything about dialing up the pressure on these QB's? Brady could have written a memoir with all the time he had in the pocket. We barely made him step up in the pocket. The offense is troubling as well. If Roddy is still nursing that sore ankle why dont we use Davis as the 2nd WR or move Douglas to the 2 and Davis to slot?
LEDBETTER: I concur on your first point. He has. His pressure are not getting home. Too many misses. He’s forced to play coverage. Dent got some pressure in Miami, but now he’s hurt. I think Davis spooked them in the preseason when he started dropping a bunch of passes. I thought he was ready to play. I also like Kevin Cone. No reason to force Roddy out there. That never works.
OLD FALCON FAN - D-Led, what's this team got to do to get better in the RED-ZONE? And better yet the defense stop choking on third down.
LEDBETTER: RUN THE FOOTBALL. MOVE SOME FOLKS OUT OF THE DAMN WAY AND LET SNELLING RUN. I don’t know what to do on third down. Wait a minute, yes I do. How about getting a sack and not all of these near misses.
REGGIE I honestly think the reason the Falcons are not doing good is because they do not have any bite in them. Matt Ryan doesn't show me the attitude elite QB's have in the NFL. I think Matt Ryan looks forward to kicking FGs in the RedZone. He doesn't try to run at all. Our Defense is terrible. We need a Defense like the 49ers or Ravens in order to win a Super Bowl.
LEDBETTER – You’re wrong on Matt. He’s a killer. He’ll cut your heart and tell you to get the F off his field (Carolina last year). He clearly doesn’t look forward to kicking field goals. Defense can improve. I will agree there.
D - It seems to me there s problems with Atlanta as far as gambling and lasvegas. the point spread is becoming too predictable, it explains artur blank always on the sideline monetering the games, doubt very much iam wrong. think about the playcalling and the defence.even a blind man can smell fish.
LEDBETTER – Not real sure about the Vegas thing. Don’t watch it that much. Blank on the sidelines is different. Modern owners seem to do that. The old school guys (Modell, Paul Brown, Rooneys) did not. I’ve never seen a Rooney on the sidelines.
JC - -Why do we play so conservative on third and long? Better yet, why do we play a conservative defense? It is obviously not working. Why not bring pressure and give up 5 yards on 3 & long? Also, why do we play zone defense when it's obvious we can't play zone defense? Anytime a team starts a no-hundle drive, we send four and drop back everyone else. We have no success doing this! Let's bring some pressure for the love of God!!!
LEDBETTER – I think the blocking dictates that on third and long. Need someone to make a play. I think I would have blitz Brady on third and 19.
